…with polarity-based movement, breath, sound, and images
freedom and groundedness
In this two-day Level 1 workshop, you will:
Learn the ‘Horizontal Sequence’ of The 16 Ways, a simple movement practice that brings mind, emotions and body into flow between 8 different pairs of opposite energies.
Explore in depth the eight vowel sounds and breaths that form the basis of The 16 Ways.
Access the fundamental energies of The 16 Ways in your body, mind, and emotions
Gain an intuitive, practical understanding of your own subtle energy patterns and learn how to work with them
Practice in pairs, using the polarities of The 16 Ways to explore and enhance relationship
This workshop is open to people of all shapes and sizes and assumes no prior physical training or movement skills.
By engaging our whole self – with body, mind, emotions, and breath – and moving back and forth from one dynamic into its opposite, the natural abundance of energy contained within each polarity opens up and becomes much more available to us. We begin naturally responding with more ease and joy to the constant changes in life. The 16 Ways offers a simple and powerful method of accessing a greater range of experience and expression.
assertiveness and receptivity
connectedness and non-attachment
logic and intuition
The 16 Ways brings us flow by tapping into the timeless principles of yin and yang, and grounding them in a thoroughly modern and immediately accessible approach to the movement arts, psychology and bio-energetics.
Dylan Newcomb, a founding member of the Danslab Institute for movement research in The Hague and the inventor of The 16 Ways, trained at Juilliard in both dance and music composition. Kyung-sun Baek trained at the Korean National University of the Arts and the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam. Each brings an extensive background in performance, instruction, and research to their work with the mind-body-emotion connection. They delight in sharing their exploration of and joy in the ever-changing dynamic and nature of self and relationship.
